Highlighters, flashcards, colored pens...

...a few of my husband's new favorite things. Marc is really getting into his new role as a student. He's been very diligent in his studies, reminds me of me back in the day :) You should see his meticulous, color coordinated charts and all of the time he is spending at his new desk. "I've never worked this hard in my life" he said. He has his first biology and chemistry exam coming up this Tuesday and Thursday, so if you read this in time please say a prayer for him that God will bless his efforts, that his study time these next few days will be really productive, and for clear thinking and recall on exam day. We don't have much time to spend together these days, but baby I'm really proud of you and this is all going to be worth it.

I was reminded of some lessons this week that can be even harder to learn than bio and chem.
1. two wrongs don't make a right, cliche but oh so true
2. obedience in marriage means respecting and loving unconditionally even when you think the other person doesn't deserve it. someone has to be first to break the cycle.
3. don't go to bed angry, because if you do you'll get out of bed and out the door angry.
4. when challenges and arguments arise and you're hardly talking, the last thing you feel like doing is praying together. praying together is the best thing you could do.
5. be quick to apologize and quick to humble yourself. the christian walk is a humbling one, and although difficult to do, it's probably way less painful than living in a broken relationship, holding out in pride and stubborness because you think you're right and that you've been wronged.

I'll do better next time baby!
